Meta description generator

Paste the text of a page to get a clean meta description, truncated to the right length without cutting a word in half. 100% local processing (WebAssembly).

How it works

Google truncates meta descriptions that are too long in search results, often in the middle of a word, which makes for an unappealing preview. This tool always cuts at the last space before the set limit (160 characters by default) and adds an ellipsis, so the text stays clean and readable in search results.

What is the ideal length for a meta description?

Google typically displays between 150 and 160 characters on desktop, a bit less on mobile. Staying under that limit avoids truncation and makes sure your whole message is visible in search results.

Why are multiple spaces removed from the text?

Source text (extracted from an HTML page, for example) often contains line breaks and multiple spaces left over from formatting. The tool normalizes them to a single space to produce a clean description, just as it will actually appear in search results.

100% local processing: generation runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your content never leaves your device.
