Net/gross salary calculator (France)
Quickly convert a monthly gross salary to net, or a net salary to gross, based on your status (non-cadre, cadre, civil service), using indicative employee contribution rates. This calculation runs entirely in your browser.
How it works
In France, the gross salary shown on a contract is not the amount you actually receive: employee social contributions (pension, unemployment, CSG-CRDS...) are withheld before the net salary is paid. This tool applies an indicative average contribution rate for 2024-2025, depending on the status you choose, to quickly convert a gross amount to net, or the reverse.
Why does the contribution rate differ between cadre, non-cadre and civil service?
Private-sector cadres contribute more, notably to supplementary pensions (Agirc-Arrco at higher rates) and insurance cover, which generally gives a higher employee contribution rate (around 25%) than for non-cadres (around 22%). Civil servants contribute under different rules, with an employee contribution rate that is often lower (around 15%), but with specific pension calculation rules not reflected here.
Does this net amount match what lands in my bank account?
No, the "net before tax" calculated here corresponds to the net social salary, before income tax withholding at source (calculated using your personalized rate or the default rate), which has been deducted directly on the payslip since 2019. The amount actually paid into your account will therefore be slightly lower than the "net" shown here, once tax is deducted.
These rates are indicative averages, provided for information only: the actual contribution rate depends on your collective agreement, the Social Security ceiling, your company health plan and other special cases not accounted for here.
Your salary is never sent to a server: the conversion happens entirely in your browser.
