Pastel color palette generator

Generate a palette of soft pastel colors, ideal for a brand identity, interface design, or a moodboard. Choose a mode (random, monochrome, or rainbow) and the number of shades you want — everything is calculated in your browser.

How it works

A pastel color is technically defined by moderate saturation and high lightness in HSL — this is the combination the tool applies when calculating each shade. "Random" mode picks independent hues, "monochrome" mode spreads a single base hue across several lightness levels, and "rainbow" mode distributes hues evenly around the color wheel for a harmonious gradient.

Why are pastel colors popular in design?

Their low contrast and visual softness make them especially well suited to interfaces meant to feel calming or approachable (wellness apps, children's branding, wedding moodboards), as long as you check the contrast of any text placed on top so it stays readable.

Are these colors suitable as a background for readable text?

Pastel colors work best as decorative backgrounds or visual accents: for readable text, always use text that is dark enough on these light backgrounds, or check the contrast with a dedicated tool before publishing.

No data is sent to a server: the palette is calculated entirely in your browser each time you generate it.
