Total employer cost calculator

Estimate the real cost of an employee to the company based on their gross salary, the employer contribution rate and any benefits in kind or in cash. The calculation is done entirely in your browser.

Example:
In France, roughly 25 to 45% depending on the industry and workforce size
Meal vouchers, health insurance, provident insurance, etc.

How it works

The gross salary paid to the employee is only part of what a position actually costs the company. This tool adds employer contributions (social security contributions paid by the employer on top of the gross salary) to the gross salary, along with any additional benefits you specify (health insurance, meal vouchers, provident insurance...), to obtain the total monthly and annual cost of the employee.

Which employer contribution rate should I use?

In France, the employer contribution rate generally varies between 25% and 45% of the gross salary depending on the size of the company, the industry, the employee's status (executive or non-executive) and applicable reductions (Fillon reduction, etc.). An average rate of 42% is often used as a quick estimate, but your accountant or payroll software will give you the exact rate applicable to your situation.

Why add a 13th month to the annual calculation?

Some companies or collective bargaining agreements provide for an extra salary payment at the end of the year. If this applies to your organization, check this option so that the annual cost includes this extra month's salary and the corresponding employer contributions, more accurately reflecting the real budget to plan for.

This calculation is a simplified estimate for guidance purposes: it does not replace the advice of a chartered accountant or a payroll manager for establishing an accurate employer cost, which depends on many regulatory parameters specific to each situation.
