Compare the text of two PDFs (diff)
Before sending a document back to the printer or approving a proof, compare the text of two versions of a PDF to make sure no correction was missed and no unwanted change slipped into the final version.
How it works
The tool extracts the text from each PDF, then compares the two versions line by line to produce a list of added, removed and unchanged lines. It's the ideal complement to a pre-print check: instead of rereading an entire document that was already approved once, focus your review only on what actually changed in the new proof.
Does this tool also compare layout or images?
No, only the text content. A change in font, color, or the position of an element or image won't show up in the result if the text stays the same. To check visual differences (layout, colors), you need to compare the two documents by eye, for example by exporting them as images with our PDF to images converter.
Can I hide identical lines to go faster?
Yes, the "Show only changed lines" checkbox filters the display to keep only additions and removals, which is handy on a long document where most of the text hasn't changed between the two versions.
100% local processing: text extraction and comparison run entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, and your two files are never sent to a server.
