Check PDF margins before printing

Upload a PDF to check each page's margin between its crop area (CropBox) and the physical edge of the sheet (MediaBox), and spot pages whose margin is too small to print without risk of cut-off.

How it works

A PDF defines two rectangles that matter for printing: the MediaBox (the full physical sheet) and the CropBox (the area actually displayed/printed by most software). This tool calculates the gap between the two on each edge of each page and converts it to millimeters, so you can spot an unusually small margin before sending the document to the printer.

What happens if my PDF has no CropBox defined?

This is the most common case: without an explicit CropBox, it equals the MediaBox and the tool then shows a 0 mm margin on all edges. This doesn't mean the visual content touches the page edge, only that the file doesn't define a separate crop area: in that case, use our print margin checker instead for a bleed/safe-zone estimate.

Is a 5 mm margin always enough?

It's a common indicative threshold for office printing, but each printer has its own actual non-printable area (often between 3 and 6 mm depending on the model). For professional output (print shop, brochure), always refer to the provider's technical guidelines rather than this generic threshold.
