Edit a PDF's metadata
Fix the title, author, or subject of a PDF before sharing it — useful when an automatic export (virtual printer, report generator, scanner) has left a technical file name or an internal user name in the document properties.
How it works
In addition to its visible content, a PDF contains a small set of metadata (title, author, subject...) visible in the file properties of most PDF readers. These fields are often poorly filled in when a document is generated automatically: title equal to a temporary file name, author equal to the name of a technical account or piece of software. Import the PDF, the form pre-fills with the current values; edit the fields you want and save to get a new file with clean metadata, before sending or publishing it.
Is the rest of the PDF's information (creator, dates...) lost?
No. Only the fields changed in the form (title, author, subject) are replaced; the other information already present in the document is kept as-is.
What happens if I leave a field empty?
A field left empty does not overwrite the existing value in the file: only the fields you actually filled in are applied to the final document.
