N-up imposition: several pages per sheet

Group several pages of your PDF onto each output sheet (2, 4, 6 or 9 pages per sheet) to save paper when printing, for example to hand out a draft or miniature lecture notes.

How it works

N-up imposition shrinks each source page and places it in a grid on a larger sheet. Each original page is resized to fit its cell while keeping its proportions, then centered with a small margin. The result is a new, print-ready PDF with the number of sheets divided by the number of pages grouped together.

Which layout should I choose for printing?

4 pages per sheet is the most readable compromise for proofreading a draft. 6 or 9 pages per sheet are best suited to compact archiving, where the text doesn't need to be read in detail.

Is the page order preserved?

Yes, pages are placed left to right, then top to bottom on each sheet, in their original order, sheet after sheet.

The whole document layout is done locally in your browser (pdf-lib library running in JavaScript) — your PDF is never sent to a server.
