Remove a PDF's metadata
Erase the title, author, subject, creator and producer stored in a PDF before sharing it publicly, so you don't reveal unintended information. 100% local processing in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
How it works
By default, a PDF keeps information about its origin in its /Info dictionary: title, author, subject, creation software, export engine. These fields can reveal an employee's name, a project's internal name or the software used. This tool displays these values, then replaces them all with empty strings.
Does this tool also remove XMP metadata and hidden dates?
No: this tool clears the five standard fields of the /Info dictionary (title, author, subject, creator, producer). A PDF may also contain a separate XMP metadata stream, creation/modification dates, or custom data added by some software, which this tool doesn't modify in its current version. For use cases where confidentiality is critical, check the result with a metadata viewer before sharing.
Can I set different metadata instead of clearing it?
Yes, use the dedicated PDF metadata editing tool instead if you want to enter a new title or author rather than clearing everything.
100% local processing: reading and removing the metadata happen entirely in your browser — your document is never sent to a server.
