Seyès ruled paper PDF (French handwriting)

Generate a sheet of Seyès ruling, the classic format of French school notebooks for learning cursive handwriting: fine 2 mm lines grouped in fours, with a vertical margin line.

Example:

How it works

Seyès ruling (named after Jean-Alexandre Seyès) structures each line of writing into four fine lines spaced 2 mm apart: the two middle lines mark the body of lowercase letters, while the ascenders and descenders of letters like "l" or "p" use the space above and below, up to the next group. A blank 2 mm gap separates each group of four lines from the next.

Why is there a red vertical line on the side?

This vertical line, positioned about 2 cm from the left edge, marks the margin where you normally shouldn't write, like in traditional school notebooks. You can hide it if you prefer a sheet without a visual margin.

Is this ruling suitable for the youngest children (kindergarten, first grade)?

Classic 2 mm Seyès is mainly meant for second grade and up; for early handwriting (kindergarten, first grade), teachers often use an enlarged Seyès (with wider-spaced lines). This generator produces the standard 2 mm format; adapt its use to the child's age.
