Split a PDF by file size

Split a large PDF into several smaller files, grouping consecutive pages until reaching a maximum size per file. 100% local processing (WebAssembly).

Example:

Drag and drop a PDF here, or click to select it (max 200 MB).

How it works

Most mailboxes reject attachments beyond a certain size, often 25 MB. If you need to send a large PDF — a report with lots of images, a scanned file — by email and it exceeds this limit, this tool automatically splits it into several files, each staying under the size you specify, while respecting the page order: the first file contains the first pages, the next one continues from there, and so on. All that's left is to send the files one by one, or in separate emails.

Are the pages distributed evenly between files?

No, the tool adds pages one by one to a current file as long as its estimated size stays under the specified limit, then starts a new file as soon as adding one more page would exceed that limit. The number of pages per file therefore depends on each page's content (plain text or heavy images) and can vary from one file to another.

What happens if a single page already exceeds the maximum size?

In that rare case (a page containing a very large image, for example), that page is still placed alone in its own file rather than making the whole split fail. The maximum size given is therefore a target to be respected as closely as possible, not an absolute guarantee for every generated file.

The splitting is performed 100% locally in your browser (WebAssembly): your document's content is never sent to a server.
