PDF sudoku book generator

Generate a booklet of valid, solvable sudoku grids at the difficulty level of your choice, ready to print with or without the solution pages.

Example:

How it works

A complete, valid 9x9 grid is first generated by a backtracking algorithm (filling cell by cell according to the rules of sudoku, backing up when it hits a dead end), then digits are randomly removed according to the chosen difficulty to produce the final puzzle to print.

Does the generated grid always have a solution?

Yes: the puzzle is made by removing digits from an already complete, valid grid, and the matching full solution is provided on the associated solution page, so every grid is guaranteed to be solvable from the clues shown.

What is the difference between the difficulty levels?

The level only controls the number of clues (digits) visible at the start: 42 for "easy", 32 for "medium" and 26 for "hard". The fewer the clues, the more digits you have to deduce through logical elimination.

100% local processing: grid generation and solving both happen entirely in your browser, with no data sent to a server.
