Convert PDF to CBZ

Convert a PDF (such as a scanned comic or manga) into a CBZ file, the standard format for digital comic readers, by exporting each page as a JPEG image bundled into one archive.

How it works

A CBZ file is simply a ZIP archive containing one image per page, numbered in reading order. Each page of the PDF is rendered as a JPEG image with pdf.js and named with a three-digit number to guarantee the correct order, then all the images are compressed together into the final archive.

Which readers can open a CBZ file?

Most digital comic readers (on desktop, tablet or smartphone) natively support the CBZ format, which is nothing more than a renamed ZIP file. You can even rename it to .zip and open it with any archive manager to check its contents.

Is the text quality preserved?

Because each page becomes an image, the text can no longer be selected or searched after conversion, unlike in the original PDF. This is normal and expected for a format designed for illustrated comics rather than text.

Page rendering and archive creation happen entirely in your browser (pdf.js and the fflate library). Your PDF is never sent to a server.
