Percentage increase calculator

Calculate the percentage increase or decrease between two values (for example a price before/after, a salary, an audience), or apply a rate directly to a starting value. Instant calculation, no data sent.

How it works

Two needs come up often with percentage change: finding the exact rate of change between two known values (for example a price going from $80 to $100), or conversely, calculating the final value obtained by applying a known increase or decrease rate to a starting value (for example a salary raised by 3%). This tool covers both cases in a single interface.

Why is the rate of change calculated from the starting value?

The percentage rate of change is always calculated relative to the reference value (the old value), not the new one: an increase from 80 to 100 is +25%, but the symmetrical decrease from 100 to 80 is not -25%, rather -20%, because the base of comparison has changed.

How do I apply several successive increases?

Percentages do not simply add up: to apply two successive increases (for example +10% then +5%), use the "final value" mode once with the first rate, then take the result as the new starting value for the second calculation.

The calculation runs only in your browser: no value you enter is sent to a server.
