GPS location QR code

Generate a QR code that encodes GPS coordinates in the standard geo: format, which most smartphones open directly in their maps app. 100% local processing in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

How it works

The geo:latitude, longitude URI scheme is a standard recognized by most mobile mapping apps (Google Maps, Apple Maps on iOS, OsmAnd...). When the generated QR code is scanned, the user is taken straight to that exact point on the map in their preferred app, without typing in the coordinates manually.

Why use a QR code instead of a regular Google Maps link?

A geo: link stays neutral with respect to the map provider: each smartphone opens it with its default app, whereas a Google Maps link forces the use of that specific service, which can be inconvenient on a device that uses a different mapping app.

Does the "Use my current location" button send my location anywhere?

No: your position is requested directly from the browser through the standard geolocation API, then used only to pre-fill the latitude/longitude fields above. It is neither transmitted nor stored on a server.

100% local processing: the QR code is generated in your browser via WebAssembly.
