Recipe scaler

Automatically adjust the quantities in a recipe for a different number of servings — so you can host more or fewer guests without recalculating everything by hand. The calculation happens instantly in your browser.

How it works

A recipe written for 4 people doesn't always fit your exact number of guests: enter the original number of servings, the number you want, and the list of your ingredients with their quantities. The tool applies the same multiplication factor to every ingredient to give you a proportionally adjusted recipe.

Does scaling work well for every ingredient?

Simple proportional scaling works well for most ingredients (flour, sugar, liquids). It is less reliable for elements that don't scale linearly in practice, such as salt, strong spices, yeast or cooking time: it's better to taste and adjust these by eye rather than follow the strict calculation, especially for large differences in servings.

Can I use fractional quantities, like "1.5 eggs"?

Yes, the result may show decimal values when the scaling factor doesn't give a round number. For an ingredient that's hard to divide (like an egg), it's usually more practical to round to the nearest whole number, up or down depending on the result you want.
