How it works

This tool starts from a daily screen time budget that you set yourself, then asks you to split that time across main usage categories (work, social media, entertainment, other). It adds up the allocated minutes and compares them with the total budget to show whether you have room left or the split already exceeds your goal, with a one-week projection.

How do I choose my daily budget?

There's no universal rule: the right budget depends on your job, your obligations and your personal goals. A common approach is to start from your current screen time (often visible in your phone's settings) and set a slightly lower target, category by category, rather than a sudden cut that's hard to sustain over time.

What if I keep going over my budget?

Repeatedly going over budget often means a single category (frequently social media or entertainment) is taking up more room than planned. First adjust that category's budget to a realistic level, or lower it gradually from one week to the next rather than aiming for an overly strict goal from the start. This tool is an informational planning aid and is no substitute for professional advice if screen use is causing a health, sleep or broader well-being problem.

The calculation runs entirely in your browser: the durations you enter are never sent to a server.
