SEO Length Checker (title / meta description)
Check live whether your page title and meta description meet the lengths recommended by Google, with a preview of how they appear in search results.
How it works
Google doesn't display a fixed character count for a title or description: it actually truncates based on an on-screen pixel width, which varies slightly depending on the characters used (an "i" takes up less space than a "W"). The thresholds of about 50 to 60 characters for the title and 150 to 160 characters for the description are reliable rules of thumb in practice to avoid truncation in the vast majority of cases. This tool shows a live counter, with a color code, as you write, and simulates the final rendering in search results so you can immediately spot a title cut off mid-word or a description that ends abruptly.
What happens if my title is too long?
Google generally truncates it and adds an ellipsis, which can cut off an important word (brand name, main keyword) right in the middle and make the result less appealing or less clear for the user browsing the search results page.
What happens if my title or description is too short?
It's not a technical error, but it is a missed opportunity: a title or description that's too short leaves unused space in search results, when those extra words could include a relevant keyword or a compelling reason to click.
