Ski size calculator

Estimate the ski length that suits your build, your level and the type of skiing you do (on-piste, all-mountain, freeride or park). A useful starting point before heading to the shop, calculated locally in your browser.

How it works

The most common basic rule is to choose skis whose length is close to the skier's height, then adjust for skill level (shorter skis are easier for a beginner to handle), the type of skiing (freeride skis are generally longer for flotation in deep snow, park skis shorter for maneuverability when spinning) and weight relative to height (a heavier build benefits from a slightly longer ski for better edge hold).

Why does my weight affect the recommended length?

Two people of the same height but different weight don't put the same pressure on their skis: a heavier skier needs a bit more contact surface (and therefore length) to float properly on the snow and keep the same level of control, while a lighter skier will be better served by a slightly shorter ski.

Does this result replace the advice of a specialist salesperson?

No, it's a general estimate based on rules commonly used in the ski industry, to be taken as a starting point. A specialist salesperson or rental technician can refine the recommendation based on the exact ski model, your turning style and the snow conditions you usually ski in.
