Slug generator (text to URL)

Turn any text into a clean, URL-friendly slug: lowercase, accents removed, spaces and special characters replaced with dashes.

Example:

How it works

When you publish a blog post, a product page, or a documentation page, its readable title ("How to choose your morning coffee?") needs to be turned into a clean, stable URL ("how-to-choose-your-morning-coffee"), free of accents, spaces, or punctuation, which will show up in the address bar and be easy to share. Enter your title: the corresponding slug is generated instantly as you type.

Why are accents removed?

URLs need to stay compatible with as many systems, browsers, and tools as possible. Although modern URLs technically accept accents, the widely followed convention is to remove them (é → e, ç → c, à → a, etc.) to avoid encoding, search, or copy-paste issues between systems.

What happens if my text already contains dashes or repeated characters?

Any character that isn't a letter or a digit (spaces, punctuation, existing dashes) is replaced with a dash, and consecutive dashes are automatically collapsed into one. Leading and trailing dashes in the result are also removed, producing a clean, directly usable slug.

Slug generation is performed 100% locally in your browser (WebAssembly) — your text is never sent to a server.
