Count word occurrences

Find out how many times a word, character or phrase appears in a text, with options for case sensitivity and whole-word matching. The count is done locally, and nothing is sent to a server.

Example:

How it works

Useful for checking keyword density in an SEO article, spotting excessive repetition of a word in a text, or counting a specific character such as a comma or a symbol. Enter the text and the term to search for, then click "Count".

How does the "whole word" option work?

Without this option, searching for "cat" also counts occurrences inside a longer word such as "category". With "Whole word only" enabled, only occurrences delimited by spaces or punctuation are counted, which gives a result closer to the actual number of times the word is used.

Can I search for several characters or a whole sentence?

Yes, the search field accepts a single character as well as a full multi-word phrase; the tool then counts how many times that exact sequence of characters appears in the text, spaces included.

Neither the text nor the search term leaves your browser: everything is calculated locally.
