Sort lines of text

Sort a list of lines (names, tags, keywords…) in ascending or descending alphabetical order.

Example:

How it works

Useful for tidying up a list of contact names, tags to insert into a CMS, or SEO keywords before comparing or presenting them in a document. Paste your list (one entry per line), choose ascending or descending order, then click "Sort": each line is compared with the others and reordered alphabetically, without modifying its content.

Does sorting distinguish between uppercase and lowercase?

Yes, sorting is standard alphabetical sorting based on each character's code: uppercase letters are thus sorted differently from their lowercase equivalents. If your list mixes both and you want a case-insensitive result, standardize the case first (for example with the "Case converter" tool) before sorting.

What happens to empty lines?

They are kept and sorted like any other line (they generally end up at the top of the result when sorted in ascending order). If you want to remove them first, use the "Remove empty lines" tool before sorting.

Processing is entirely local, performed in your browser via WebAssembly: your list never leaves your computer.
