Name list reformatter
Paste a list of names (one per line) and instantly convert it to the format of your choice: "First Last", "LAST First", initials, or the email format "first.last". The whole conversion runs locally in your browser.
How it works
Handy for cleaning up a guest file, a contact list or a team directory pasted from a spreadsheet: indicate whether your current list is already organized as "First Last" or "Last First", choose the output format, then click Reformat. Each line is processed independently, in the original order.
How are compound names or names with particles handled?
For the "First Last" format, the first word is treated as the first name and the rest of the line as the last name, which correctly handles "Jean-Pierre Dupont" or "Marie De La Fontaine". For the "Last First" format, it's the opposite: the last word is treated as the first name.
How does the "first.last" email format work?
The tool lowercases the first and last names, removes accents and spaces, then joins them with a period, giving for example "john.smith" from "John Smith". It is the most common address pattern in companies.
Your list of names is neither saved nor sent to a server: everything happens in your browser's memory, for the duration of the conversion.
