Automatic sentence capitalization fixer
Paste a text typed without proper capitalization and the tool capitalizes the start of every sentence while preserving a short list of common acronyms. Everything runs in your browser, and no text is sent to a server.
How it works
Useful after dictating a text, copying an automatic transcript or receiving a message typed entirely in lowercase: the tool lowercases the text, capitalizes the letter after every period, exclamation mark or question mark followed by a space, then automatically restores a short list of frequent acronyms.
Will proper nouns always be spelled correctly?
No, and that's a known limitation of the tool: it can't guess that "amélie" or "paris" should keep a capital letter in the middle of a sentence, because it relies only on punctuation and a fixed list of words to preserve. A quick proofread is therefore still recommended for proper nouns.
Why not treat a standalone "I" the way English does?
In English, the pronoun "I" is always capitalized, even in the middle of a sentence; that rule doesn't exist in French, where no single-letter word needs to be capitalized systematically. The tool therefore doesn't apply it, so it stays suited to text written in French.
The text you paste stays on your device from start to finish: no copy is kept or sent anywhere else.
