Word wrap text
Reformat a text so that no line ever exceeds a maximum number of characters, without ever splitting a word in two — useful for text meant for a terminal, a README file or a plain-text email.
How it works
The tool splits the text word by word, trying to fill each line as much as possible without exceeding the maximum width you chose. If a word is longer than the maximum width, it is placed alone on its own line rather than being cut. It's what you need to prepare text that should display cleanly in a terminal, a width-limited code comment, or a plain-text email sent without HTML formatting.
Are the blank lines in my text kept?
Yes, existing blank lines in the original text are preserved as they are in the result.
What happens if a single word is longer than the maximum width?
That word is placed alone on its own line, even if it exceeds the requested width: the tool never cuts a word in the middle.
Your text never leaves your browser, and the reformatting runs entirely on your device via WebAssembly.
