Keyboard typing race

Copy the displayed text as fast and as accurately as you can to measure your typing speed in words per minute (WPM) and your accuracy rate. The exercise runs entirely in your browser, with no data sent.

How it works

Click "Start", then copy the displayed text into the input area as fast as you can. The timer starts at your first keystroke and stops automatically once you've typed as many characters as the target text, revealing your speed in words per minute and your accuracy rate.

How is the speed in words per minute (WPM) calculated?

The number of words in the target text (separated by spaces) is divided by the time elapsed in minutes between your first and last keystroke, giving your average speed over the whole exercise.

How is accuracy measured?

Each character you type is compared with the character at the same position in the target text; accuracy is the percentage of correctly typed characters across the whole text, with errors highlighted in red as you type.

The text you type stays local to your browser, and no input is sent to a server.
