Unit converter (length, weight, temperature)
Quickly convert imperial units (miles, pounds, Fahrenheit) to metric units or vice versa.
How it works
An American recipe in pounds and Fahrenheit, a distance shown in miles on a British road sign, or a spec sheet expressed in inches: imperial units remain very present in everyday life while most of the world uses the metric system. This tool converts both ways between the most common units of length, weight and temperature, with a result updated live as you type.
Why does temperature have its own category?
Unlike length or weight, where converting one unit to another simply means multiplying by a fixed factor, temperature scales (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin) don't share the same zero point: 0°C corresponds to 32°F and to 273.15 K, not to 0°F. The conversion therefore uses formulas dedicated to each pair of units rather than a simple multiplication.
What precision can I expect from the result?
The conversion factors used (for example 1 mile = 1609.344 meters, 1 pound = 453.59237 grams) are the official reference values, with a result rounded to 6 decimal places — more than enough for everyday or administrative use.
Privacy: the conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your values are never transmitted to a server.
