Extract audio from a video
Extract just the soundtrack of a video as MP3, WAV, AAC or M4A, depending on your needs. The extraction runs locally in your browser using ffmpeg in WebAssembly, and no file is sent to a server.
How it works
The video is loaded into ffmpeg's virtual file system, which then isolates the audio track (the -vn option, for "no video") and encodes it in the chosen format before offering the result for download. The video stream is never decoded or re-encoded; only the audio track is processed.
Which format should I choose: MP3, WAV, AAC or M4A?
MP3 is the most universal choice and gives a small file with moderate quality loss. WAV is uncompressed, larger but lossless, useful for later audio editing. AAC offers better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate and is well supported on mobile; M4A is simply an AAC container commonly used by Apple and many modern players.
What happens if my video has no audio track?
If the video contains no audio track, the extraction fails and an error message is shown, because ffmpeg has nothing to encode. Make sure the source file actually has sound by playing it in the video preview before starting the extraction.
Privacy guaranteed: your video and the extracted audio stay on your device, and all processing runs locally via WebAssembly.
