Crop a video for social media
Crop your video to a vertical, square or landscape format suited to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or standard YouTube. The crop is centered automatically and processing happens entirely in your browser, with nothing sent to a server.
How it works
The tool loads a video processing engine (ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly) directly in your browser, then applies a centered crop filter matching the chosen ratio. No frame is sent to a server: all the computation runs on your machine.
How is the cropped area calculated?
For a vertical or square format, the original video's height is kept and the width is reduced to reach the target ratio, cutting symmetrically from the left and right. For a landscape format like 16:9, the width is kept and the height is reduced by cutting from the top and bottom. The crop is therefore always centered on the main subject, assumed to be in the middle of the frame.
Is the first run slower than the following ones?
Yes, the ffmpeg engine (a few tens of megabytes) has to be downloaded and initialized on the first click on "Crop video". Subsequent runs in the same session are faster because the engine stays loaded in memory.
Can I crop a very long video?
Processing happens in the browser's memory, which limits file size to 300 MB. For longer or heavier videos, first split them into shorter clips.
Privacy guaranteed: your video stays on your device from start to finish, and not a single byte is sent to an external server.
