Trim a video clip

Choose a video, set a start and end time, then extract that passage as a new video file in WebM format, playable in all modern browsers.

Drag and drop a video here, or click to browse (max 300 MB).

How it works

This tool doesn't "cut" the original video file in the classic sense: your browser plays the selected passage and re-records it live using the MediaRecorder API, entirely locally. This is why trimming takes roughly as long as the duration of the chosen clip, and why the produced file is in WebM format rather than a simple copy of the original container.

In practice, the video is played from the start time, the video/audio stream is captured and recorded in real time, then playback automatically stops at the specified end time. The result is then available for preview and download.

Browser compatibility

This feature relies on HTMLMediaElement.captureStream(), available in recent Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Safari support is more limited and trimming may not work in that browser.

100% local processing: playback, capture and recording all happen entirely in your browser — your video never leaves your device.
