Calories burned walking

Estimate the calories you burn during a walk based on your weight, duration and chosen pace. The calculation uses standard metabolic equivalents (MET) and runs entirely in your browser.

Example:

How it works

Whether it's a daily fitness walk or an urban hike, knowing roughly how many calories you burn helps you track a fitness goal. This tool uses the metabolic equivalent (MET), a standard measure of physical activity intensity used in sports medicine.

What exactly is a MET?

One MET is the energy expenditure at rest (about 1 kcal per kg of body weight per hour). An activity at 3.5 MET, such as moderate walking, therefore uses about 3.5 times more energy than sitting at rest. These values come from the Compendium of Physical Activities reference tables, widely used in research and public health.

Is the result accurate to the calorie?

No, it is an estimate. Actual calorie expenditure varies with the elevation of the route, wind, individual fitness, walking technique and each person's basal metabolism. Use the result as an order of magnitude rather than an exact medical measurement.

Your data (weight, duration) stays in your browser and is never sent to a server.
