Count words in multiple texts

Add as many text boxes as you need to compare their length: the word and character count of each text is shown individually, along with a grand total for all of them.

Example:
7 words · 37 characters
13 words · 72 characters

How it works

Handy for comparing the length of several versions of the same text (post variants, article sections, answers to compare) without having to paste them one after another into a single field. Click "+ Add a text" to create new boxes; the counts update automatically as you type.

How is the word count calculated for each box?

As in the simple word counter, a word is a sequence of characters separated by spaces or line breaks; a text box that is empty or contains only spaces counts as 0 words. The grand total simply adds up the individual counts of all active boxes.

Can I rename the text boxes?

Boxes are named automatically "Text 1", "Text 2", and so on, in the order they were created. There is no dedicated rename field for now: use the order of appearance or the content of each box to find your way around the summary.

100% local processing: all counts are calculated directly in your browser — your texts never leave your device.
