Convert a number written in French words to digits

Enter a number written out in French words (for example « deux mille vingt-quatre ») and instantly get its numeric value.

How it works

French numbering has special rules (soixante-dix, quatre-vingts, quatre-vingt-dix) that make converting a number written in words into digits by hand tedious, for example when checking an amount written on a cheque or processing dictated text. This tool parses the text word by word and reconstructs the corresponding numeric value, taking into account units, tens, hundreds, and thousands.

Which numbers can the tool convert?

The tool covers numbers from 0 to 999,999 written according to standard French rules (units, regular and irregular tens such as soixante-dix or quatre-vingts, hundreds with or without an « s », thousands). Very unusual phrasings or large numbers (millions and above) are not supported.

Do I need to write hyphens between the words (like « quatre-vingt-dix »)?

No, that's not necessary: the tool accepts both « quatre-vingt-dix » and « quatre vingt dix » with spaces, both forms give the same result.

100% local processing: the conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your input is never sent to a server.
