Validate YAML
Quickly check whether a YAML document is syntactically correct before using it in a CI/CD pipeline or a configuration file.
How it works
The tool attempts to parse your YAML document with a real parser. If it succeeds, your YAML is syntactically valid. Otherwise, a precise error message indicates the nature of the problem (incorrect indentation, unexpected character, duplicate key, etc.), which helps avoid silent errors at deployment time.
Does this test guarantee my file will work in my tool (Docker, Kubernetes...)?
No, this tool only checks generic YAML syntactic validity. A file can be valid YAML while still being semantically incorrect for the tool that consumes it (for example a required key missing from a Kubernetes file).
Why does my YAML fail even though it looks correct?
The most common errors come from inconsistent indentation (mixing spaces), tabs (forbidden in YAML), or missing colons after a key. The error message displayed generally indicates the line concerned.
