YouTube timestamp link generator
Paste a YouTube URL and a time to generate a link that starts playback at exactly the right moment, handy for sharing a specific passage of a video. The ID extraction and link building happen entirely in your browser.
How it works
Pointing someone to "the video, at 12 minutes 30" in writing is awkward: a link that starts right at the correct moment is far more effective for sharing a specific excerpt in an article, a message or a course handout. Paste the video URL (youtube.com, youtu.be or shorts format), enter the time you want, and get a ready-to-share link that automatically jumps to that moment.
Which YouTube URL formats are recognized?
The tool recognizes standard URLs (youtube.com/watch?v=...), short links (youtu.be/...), embedded videos (youtube.com/embed/...), Shorts and live streams, as well as a raw 11-character video ID pasted directly.
What is the difference between the "t" and "start" parameters?
The t parameter (or t=Xs) works for standard share links opened in a browser or the YouTube app, while the start parameter is used specifically in the embed code (iframe) of a video embedded on a website. The tool generates both formats automatically.
The URL you paste is never sent to a server: parsing and link building happen only in your browser.
